Appropriate first aid training courses should be given to company employees. In an ideal world all employees would be trained in emergency first aid, however it would not be reasonable to expect employers to train all of their employees in emergency first aid. Every organization is different and therefore one company’s first aid requirement is usually different to the next. Employers need to assess their workplace to determine the number of employees requiring training, which courses they need to attend and which employes should be trained. If a company employs less than fifty people and the working environment is low risk i.e. an office environment without the use of power tools or forklift trucks etc, they are recommended to nominate at least one Appointed Person for emergency first aid and to train them appropriately on a one day in duration Emergency First Aid for Appointed Persons course which is the minimum standard for the workplace.
